If you follow my Facebook page, you may have had the chance to see a few of these. If not, I hope you enjoy this massive smorgasbord of photo goodness. I know I loved making every one of them.

Now all my Tri-cities, Wash. area clients will have a place to come for client consultations and ordering sessions, and for my national and regional clients my one-on-one photography mentoring sessions. This new studio space also has a beautiful and spacious shooting area (squeal!!!!) with both natural light and studio strobe options. That means you now have another choice for newborn, baby, child, and maternity portrait sessions.

Of course I’ll still be doing on-location shoots. After all it’s just too gorgeous here in Washington State not to use what God gave us. But now there’s another option if you want to do indoor sessions, or dramatic studio lighting, but you don’t want me to take over your home (or you clean it, hehehe) for your portrait session.

The biggest change with this new location will be with my newborn sessions. On-location newborn session are still offered; however in-studio newborn sessions will have a reduced session fee. Plus, you’ll have full access to all of my props and backdrops (after all, my car can only fit so much).

I can’t wait to share this new studio space with you!!!!

By the way, I nabbed that red rocker straight out of the son’s room as soon as I saw it. Not only did it photograph beautifully, but it belonged to his grandfather which makes it ten times more meaningful than anything I could ever bring. And speaking of grandpa, a big shot out to him, too. He was the one who picked out, all by himself, the outfit his granddaughter is wearing in the yellow basket. I’m thinking a certain little cutie pie already has her granddaddy wrapped around her little finger.

Weekly Challenge: Let Them Be Little

I shot this for her 9-month-old session. I waited a little too long to capture it, though, and unfortunately my husband had already harvested all of our own wheat. To top it off, both Addie and I had the worst summer colds, and I almost canceled the whole thing. But wheat harvest in our area was nearly over, and I had scrambled to track down a field that hadn’t been cut yet. This one was scheduled to be cut the very next morning, so it was now or never. I’m so grateful we did it because I think it worked out even better than I’d imagined. The wheat had grown so heavy that it had fallen in a few places making it the perfect spot to photograph her.

My main purpose was to photograph her standing up as it was a recent milestone for her. But I can’t help it, I just love this image of my baby girl bathed in sunshine. You could eat the light with a spoon, and her solemn gaze just makes me want come out from behind the camera and smooch her chubby cheeks.

Theme: A Touch of Sun

This session was photographed at the family’s lodge on their working cattle ranch near Moses Lake, Wash. I loved incorporating all of their dramatic decorating  and antique pieces into Finn’s newborn pictures. The clock reminds me of how they’re only this little for such a little while. They’re probably lucky the rocking chair wouldn’t fit in my car because I absolutely swooned over it.

I had hoped to also photograph some images outside to show more of the ranch. The views and rugged terrain are just breathtaking there. Unfortunately gale force winds decided to welcome the new baby too. It was so windy we could hardly close the heavy wooden doors to the lodge. No worries, though, just think of all the fun I’ll have using the old barn, corrals, and basalt rock in his pictures as he grows up!

If you’re a subscriber to my Facebook Page, you’ve gotten to see snippets of some of my recent work. But let’s be real, what Facebook makes up in convenience it loses in image quality. It’s famous for chewing up and spitting out images. Not to mention they’re so tiny. That’s one of the best things about having a blog. Not only to I get to natter on about my work, but the images take center stage, and they’re showed off in their best light — big!

Meet sweet, sweet little Julia. I’ve been photographing her big brother for years and years. I was bummed that I couldn’t do her newborn session, but I was on maternity leave myself because she was born just a few weeks after my daughter. Luckily, I was given the chance to photograph her later on. I might even go so far as to say I like this age even better. They’re sitting up, and their little personalities are just starting to emerge. Plus, they’re not mobile yet, so you can still do lots of fun set ups with them.

I’ll be the first to admit I often get picture envy for images I’ve taken for my clients. I wish I had the same pictures of my own children. You can put the images of Julia in the lamb hat near the top of that list for sure.

Spring was just starting to blossom after a long dreary winter when we made these, her 8-month images. What a perfect time to have a vintage tea party! The teddy bears in the first image belong to Blake’s mama from when she was a little girl. How sweet is that?
